Born and Raised on the East Coast, Shawn Farley Black began her art training at the age of fourteen upon entering the High School of Art and Design in New York City. Later Shawn moved on to receive her BFA from Parsons School of Design. Once graduated, Shawn and her husband moved to Southern California, where they currently live. Shawn's paintings are reminiscent of a by-gone era. Her work bears a strong resemblance to classical realism, a style born in Europe centuries ago. Shawn's work combines the best of the past with a hint of the future. Collectors of Shawn Farley Black are often struck by the uncommon level of artistic sophistication she demonstrates throughout her paintings. Since 1983 Shawn has shown in galleries throughout Southern California and has produced numerous commissions in the states and abroad. Her works hang in permanent collections such as: The World Business Center, Tokyo; Hankyu International, Japan; and the Beverly Regent Hotel in Beverly Hills. Shawn Farley Black is also internationally published under the pseudonym Shari White by Bentley House Fine Art Publisher, Walnut Creek, CA.
